In the Mod has a curious name but incredibly fascinating analysis of some of the 20th century's major painters - Dekoonig, Albers, Kandinsky, Rivera, Matisse, Rothko, etc. All of modern painting heavyweights. Even better, click on Info you get all the details on the painting being analyzed. If you click on Similar Palettes you get a list of 10 or so paintings that have a similar color palette. This site is simply wonderful - do not miss out!
Mugtug Sketchpad is a online sketching tool thatallows one to paint .PNGfile with some brush, pattern, fill, and type tools that are pretty funky. Given the novelty, I expected Sketchpad to be a Flass app. NO - it is JavaScript code. Users test out their color palettes and save the results as a PNG file.
Image to Text is really a throwback to old carnival show goodies - we take your picture and turn it into a text banner. But hey, its lots of fun! Be sure to:
1) put in your own image URL;
2) convert to colorHTML
3) changethe letters used - try some lowercase letters.
This site is just color fun.
Galaxy displays all the major color systems [choose from the grey pulldown at the upper left] with their names for the various colors. Just hover your mouse over the color dot and the name pops up as a tooltip. But even better the RGB Additive Color project shows how the color is derived/mixed together from its basic Red Green Blue components
