Our recent story on the 5 best compact cameras of 2010 has suffered a double trauma. First Gizmodo released its 3 best compact cameras - and only 1 1/2 of our cameras were on the Gizmodo list. The Canon S95 was fully on and an incarnation of the Panasonic Lumix SX7, the Lumix LX5. But the Nikon P7000 was not on our list at all – as a different camera, Nikon S8000 just missed the cut.
Samsung SH1000 with 14.2MPixels and Android Phone as remote control
Now the second problem is CES – the Consumer Electronics Show this week in Las Vegas is already showing “blow your mind” compact cameras. First there is the rumored Nikon P8000 and the very real 14.2 MPixel $200 Samsung SH100 with Android Phone as a remote control . And this is just the tip of the iceberg of whats to be shown at CES. In compact cameras, as in all technology, you can only get close to the fast moving state of the art.
