We will take a look again at Swiffy- but the the HTML support of SVG is still mixed among browser vendors. Ditto for Canvas. When Steve Jobs puked all over Flash unjustifiably [his own Quicktime had a worse record in security flaws, battery usage and uptime], he threw out some very good capabilities to support his iOS proprietary lock. But nobody has yet delivered software that can match Flash for integrating vector, bitmap, fonts, video, and programming as efficiently as Flash. Yes, there are drawbacks to Flash, but if you are going to destroy it Steve and Apple owe the software World a replacement. They simply have not delivered - and yet the Graphic Designer world remains slavishly loyal to Apple. Go figure.

This article did not foresee the evolution of web browser developments and Swiffy development. One year after, most browsers start to support SVG+JavaScript animation (including IE!), and Swiffy converts almost flawlessly many Flash animations with now a 1MB limit.

In one more year, the technology will probably be fully functional and cross platform.

Lets look at who is doing what among major smartphone and tablet OS vendors:
Apple - Flash and Java and cross platform code generators are all banned on iOS.
Blackberry - Flash and Java and crossplatform tools are all permitted on BBM/BBX.
Google - Flash and Java and cross platform program generators are all permitted on Android.
Microsoft - Java and cross platform program generators are all permitted on Win8 but Flash is not[??] for smartphones and tablets. Microsoft is still up in the air on exactly what Adobe products are permitted.

So its own record is not good for Apple and cross platform tools. No why did Adobe abandone Flash on smartphones and tablets is a gutless mystery to this observer.

Wow considering the wonderful opportunity for many many people, including myself, that's a very negative spin on the app and what we are able to do with it. Many of us are very pleased and are getting wonderful results. Adobe themselves have said they are not going to develop any new upgrades for flash, only support the versions that are out there. Considering that in itself, it's a good try and very useful. Many other companies are turning to HTML5, Java etc., not just Apple so why not include them as well. It's amazing the way that people focus and cut Apple up and down for whatever they do, or produce. If someone does not like it, they do not have to use it. I was very disappointed in this review.

If I wanted a phone camera with superior f-stop, Mpixels and image-taking I would get a Nokia Lumia 900; but I don't. If I want a megazoom, compact, shirt pocketable, noise-reducing and sharpness increasing sensor chip delivering 16Mpixels with 1080p video and Wifi which I can easily take anywhere - I would not get a Nikon 8100. But rather I would wait until Apil, tryout the Samsung W8850F and compare it with my Nikon D5100 video and sometime still camera in. And I am willing to bet that at same ISO and other exposure sttings the Samsung will produce stills as good as if not better than the D5100. Check back here in April/May for the review.
===============UPDATE from MWC Show in Barcelona=================
Now I would get the Nokia 808 PureView with 41MPixels as camera alone - the GPS and Phone are just extra goodies.
